WHAT IS INSTGRAM THREAD?

In the constantly evolving world of social media, Instagram has emerged as a very popular and loved social media platform among the youth as well as other age groups. Mark Zukerberg and his team is constantly working to enhance the user-friendly website to take it up a notch. Again, team Meta is back with a new application which is directly connected to the Instagram called THREADS. Thread was launched on 5th July 2023 and is considered as a competition to Twitter.

In the recent days, Twitter has been in limelight since it was acquired by Elon Musk in October 2022. Twitter was always an application in people’s favourite list was considered unique but since the takeover the layout has been completely changed and the updates are quite upsetting for the users. Many new applications were launched in the market to challenge and overpower twitter but nothing succeeded. However, The Thread by Instagram is something different, since it’s launched it has crossed 5M users in just a day. It surpassed the record of ChatGPT of 1 million users in 5 days.

Thread is a conversation-based application grew out of Instagram parent company. Instagram is a visual based expressive application similarly; thread would focus on texts and conversations. The Application in the layout has hint of Instagram’s comment section but the features resemble Twitter.

The signup process is the deal breaker here as its just one tap for people with Instagram account, Thread was freed of the hassle and struggle to create a database for itself like twitter as Thread got access to the database of Instagram. Even the users are at the hassle-free end as the login is easy with Instagram unlike going through the whole process of signing up like twitter. Thread has made it a lot easier to join as the users can import their bio and profile picture from their Instagram profile, users won’t have to add the Thread link to their Instagram profile as the link would be attached itself.

For the Twitter users, Thread would feel like a home because Threads offers a feed that includes posts from people you follow and recommended content from new creators. Posts can consist of up to 500 characters and can include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes long. Additionally, users can easily share their Threads posts to their Instagram story or share them as links on other platforms. Meta has plans to add additional features to Threads, such as improved recommendations in the feed and a more robust search function for real-time topic and trend tracking.

Thread has gained a lot of fame in very short time, which is commendable. However, this is just the first version of the application and there many more to come. Elon Musk, after the launched of thread might also bring out some changes in Twitter.
